  • 1.How can I open a new online trading account with South China Securities Ltd.?

    Individual Account

    Please complete and sign the following documents with your application:

    1. Client Information Statement (Individual / Joint Account)
    2. Trading Agreement
    3. Loan Facility Letter (Margin)

    which should be accompanied by the following documents:

    1.Copy of the HK ID card or passport of each account holder
    2.Copy of your bank statements or utilities bills for the past three months showing proof of address

    Submit the account opening forms and supporting documents by mail to our Head Office either with:

    A cheque with an amount not less than HK $10,000 made payable to “South China Securities Limited”.
    The cheque must be drawn on your own Hong Kong dollar bank account with a licensed bank in Hong Kong;
    The cheque must have your pre-printed account name, which is identical to the names on the account opening forms, and on your HK ID card / passport; the cheque must bear the same signature with the account opening forms;

    OR

    Arrange for authentication by an appropriate person (i.e. notary public, lawyer or professional person) to countersign on the account opening forms.

    Corporate Account

    Please complete and sign the following documents with your application:

    1. Client Information Statement (Corporate Account)
    2. Trading Agreement

    which should be accompanied by the following documents:

    1.Memorandum & Articles of Association
    2.Certificate of Incorporation
    3.Business Registration Certificate
    4.Board resolution(s) on approving account opening with us and the appointment of authorized person(s) to operate the account
    5.Copies of HKID cards / passports of company directors
    6.Latest audited financial statements

    For B.V.I. and other non-Hong Kong companies

    Please provide the following additional certified true copies:

    1.Bank account statements for the past three months showing proof of address
    2.Registered Agent’s Certificate identifying the current directors and officers, verified or issued by the registered agent of the Company
    3.Information on the true beneficial ownership of the Company

  • 2.How can I open a margin account?
    • Select margin account on account opening form. Complete and sign the following documents with your application:
    • Disclosure of Related Account(s)
    • Loan Facility Letter
  • 3.Are there any charges or minimum deposit requirement for account opening?

    No charges or minimum deposit are required to open an account in South China Securities.

  • 4.When can I activate the online trading account?

    Under normal circumstances, your account can be activated within one or two working days after receiving your completed application. A user ID and passwords will be assigned to you and you can use it to access your online account. Overseas applications may take longer to process.

  • 1.How can I deposit funds?

    Through HSBC online Internet banking or phone banking. Simply

    • Log on to online@hsbc.
    • Go to the “pay bill” section.
    • Select “South China Group” from the merchants list.
    • Fill in your South China Securities’ account number at the column of the billing account number.
    • Choose “01 – South China Securities Limited” for the billing type.

    You can deposit funds at the following banks, payable to “South China Securities Ltd.”

  • 2.How do I verify my funds, which have been credited to my online trading account?

    Vefiry Deposit

    • You can make a deposit instruction by select “Deposit” section after login, after that you fill in the deposit details and click “Send” submit to us. (Recommended)
    • You may complete a Fund Deposit Form and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200 with the deposit slip.

    Notify Deposit

    • We will credit the funds into your online trading account as soon as possible after the deposit is validated. You can check from your balance through account enquiry function on our web site.
    • Or you can subscribe our FREE Account Notification Function, once your deposit is validated we will send you an email and/or SMS.
  • 3.How can I withdraw money from my online trading account?

    Confirm Withdrwal

    • You can make a withdrawal instruction by select “Withdraw” section after login, after that you fill in the withdrawal details and click “OK” submit to us. (Recommended)
    • You may complete a Funds Withdrawal Form and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200.

    Notify Withdrawal

    • We will credit your designated bank account as soon as possible and will not accept any third party account payment instruction.
    • You can subscribe our FREE Account Notification Function, once your withdrawal request is validated we will send you an email and/or SMS.
  • 4.Can I deposit / withdraw foreign currency ?

    Deposit:You can deposit different currencies into our bank accounts.

    Withdrawal:You can withdraw USD / CNY to your designated bank account.

  • 5.When are the cut-off times for fund withdrawal and deposit?
    • The cut-off times for fund withdrawal and deposit for HK Stocks are 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm respectively on every trading day.
    • The cut-off times for fund withdrawal and deposit for HK-Shanghai Stock Connect, US Stocks and Global Stocks are 11:00 am on every trading day.
    • Any withdrawal or deposit instruction received after the cut-off time will be handled on the next trading day.
  • 6.How to check my deposit or withdrawal records ?

    Select “Withdraw” or “Deposit” section after login, then you click “Show Cash Balance and Deposit / Withdrawal Records”.

  • 7.How to transfer funds between different accounts?

    You can make a fund transfer within different trading accounts by select “Transfer” section after login, after that you fill in the details and click “confirm” submit to us.

  • 8.How can I deposit securities into my online trading account?
    • You can deliver the securities to our Head Office in Central or to any branches of South China Securities Ltd.
    • A confirming receipt will be issued to you and we will deposit the securities into your online trading account as soon as possible.
  • 9.How do I withdraw my securities from my internet trading account?

    Physical Stock Withdrawal

    • You can give us the instruction directly via your Internet account.
    • You can complete a Stock Withdrawal Form and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200 or you can contact our Customer Services Hotline. For the handling charges, you can obtain from our tariff plan.
    • We will notify you once the securities are withdrawn from the CCASS. (The securities can be picked up at 28/F, Bank of China Tower, No.1, Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong)

    Transfer To Other Brokers

    • You can either go the Account Services section in the trading platform. Choose Sec Deposit or Sec Withdrawal from the Settlement menu then fill out the form and submit to us, or
    • You can complete a Stock Transfer Form and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200, or
    • You can contact our Customer Service Center at 2111-2222.
  • 1.How to use the new Securities Trading System?
  • 2.Are there any time limits for placing buy/sell instructions?

    Basically, you can place any buy/sell instructions at anytime, even after trading hours.

  • 3.Are there any spread range limits for placing orders? What is the maximum order size can I place?

    The system only accepts order within twenty spreads from the bid/ask prices. The maximum order size is 3000 board lots per order.

  • 4.Do I have to deposit sufficient USD /CNY before trading US stocks or China connect stocks?

    No. However, you must have the equivalent amount of HKD in your Trading Account. You have to deposit USD/CNY or call us for a foreign exchange order after the transaction is completed.

  • 5.What are the differences between HK Stocks and Shanghai-HK / Shenzhen-HK Stock Connect?

  • 6.How can I subscribe for IPO shares online? How can I apply for IPO financing?
    • After logging in to your online trading account, choose “e-IPO” under “Equity Market”. Then, choose the IPO Code, and select the number of subscribed shares and other necessary information.
    • You can apply IPO financing under “e-IPO”.
  • 7.Where do I obtain the allotment results?
    • You can find the determined offer price, allotment results and the basis of allocation for Main Board companies in newspaper announcement and on the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEx) website on the date as specified in the prospectus. GEM companies will publish announcements on the GEM website and some may also publish advertisements in certain local newspapers though it is not mandatory.
    • You will receive our allotment result confirmation via email. Allotted shares will be directly lodged in your online trading account under “Portfolio”.
  • 8.How can I subscribe for e-statement?
  • 9.How can I change my personal information (i.e. Address, Phone Number, E-mail Address, Bank A/C Number) ?
    • You can select “Change Personal Info” under “Account Management” of your online trading account.
    • You may complete a “Notification for Change of Account Information and Service” and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200.
  • 10.How can I subscribe for Real Time Quote service ?
    • You can select “Realtime Quote Service” under “Account Management” of your online trading account.
    • You may complete a “Realtime Quote Service Application Form” and send it to us by e-mail to hotline@sctrade.com or by fax (852) 3101 9200.
  • 11.Do I need to open a new account to trade futures or stock options if I have an existing securities account?

    Yes. Your securities account and futures/stock options accounts are handled separately. You need to read through the Trading Agreement, complete and sign the Client Information Statement to open a new account.

  • 12.How long does the instruction stay alive?

    The order will stay valid until the end of the trading hours of the trading day, unless a cancellation instruction is received during the trading hours.

  • 13.For futures account, what will happen if my net asset value is below maintenance margin level?

    Once the net asset value is below maintenance margin level, then you will be requested to deposit additional cash to settle the insufficient differences. If you do not deposit additional cash within the requested period, your portfolio can be partially or totally liquidated without any prior notice.

  • 14.Do I have to deposit sufficient USD before trading Global Futures?

    No. However, you must have the equivalent amount of HKD in your Trading Account. You have to deposit USD or call us for a foreign exchange order after the transaction is completed.
